See City Island, a little bit of New England in the Bronx, with quaint nineteenth century homes and view of Long Island Sound dotted with sailboats. Visit the City Island Historical and Nautical Museum with exhibits illustrating the history of the island that includes many America’s Cup yacht race champions. Enjoy lunch at the Lobster Box restaurant (included) with a choice of 3 entrees: Whole Steamed Lobster, Baked Filet of Salmon or Chicken Piccata (choose entree at time of registration). Then we head to SUNY Maritime College at the tip of Throggs Neck to visit Fort Schuyler, an 1840’s fortification built to defend the back door to New York City. Inside is the Museum of the Maritime Industry, filled with photographs, paintings, posters, ship’s models and objects relating the storied history of America’s clipper ships, freighters and passenger liners.
