Today we visit several places that make NYC a world capital of food, art and culture. Our first stop is a private highlights tour of The New York Historical Society. We will be surrounded by diverse exhibits showcasing the story of New York City's rise from a remote outpost to a world class city. Collections include magnificent Tiffany lamps, original Audubon Watercolors, unique archaeological finds, spectacular sculptures, 9/11 exhibits and over 6,200 historical photographs. We will have additional time to explore exhibits and watch a short theatrical media film entitled "The New York Story." Then its off to Chelsea Market (the former home of The National Biscuit Company) which is now an urban food court and Artists/Flea Market where 35 vendors provide international foods and unique gift items. Lastly we will walk the Highline which is a public park created from an historic freight rail line elevated high above the streets. The views of NYC are amazing! Please wear comfortable walking shoes. Tour led by Melinda Scarso.
