Today we tour two of New Jersey's outstanding art museums. Our first stop is The Montclair Art Museum founded in 1914 where we will be given a private highlights tour which includes their American Art and Native American Collections. We will see works from the famed Hudson River School in addition to contemporary works by Georgia O'Keeffe, Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. We will have additional time to explore exhibits on our own. Next we travel to the Iron Bound Section of Newark where we are treated to a delicious family-style lunch at the Spanish Manor (Zagat Survey Winner). Lunch includes: Sangria, soda, seafood, chicken, beef, Spanish sausage, rice, potatoes, salad, vegetable, dessert/coffee/tea. Afterwards we visit the Newark Art Museum for a private tour of their extensive collections including American Folk Art and Impressionism to Latin American and African paintings and sculpture. We will also have an opportunity to explore the Ballantine House: A National Historic Landmark. This original mansion was the home of the wealthy founders of the Newark Ballantine Beer Company. It features 8 period rooms and six thematic art galleries. Please wear comfortable walking shoes. Tour led by Melinda Scarso.
