FONTHILL Castle, built between 1908-1912 in Doylestown PA, is the home of Henry Chapman Mercer, Archaeologist, Anthropologist, Ceramist, Scholar and Antiquarian. Mercer built Fonthill as his home and showplace for his famed Moravian collection of decorative hand-crafted tiles and prints with an eclectic mix of Medieval Gothic and Byzantine architectural styles. We’ll take a guided tour of this authentic and unique castle and a tour of The Moravian Pottery and Tile Works, a National Historic Landmark, which is right next door. Afterwards, we’’ll drive to the charming and quaint towns of New Hope, PA . New Hope is a small town with a big city feel. Take a stroll down Main Street and browse through the town’s collection of unique shops, boutiques and restaurants (lunch on your own). Head across the walking bridge to nearby Lambertville, NJ and stop by Antiques Center at the People’s Store, an antique mall dating back to 1839, which offers specialty items from 50 dealers and artists including jewelry, furniture, silver, vintage clothing, books and more.
