In this course, Mark Van Buren will explore the Buddhist understanding of self, suffering, and attachment. He will present deep Buddhist philosophies in a practical and accessible way, which can be used to help loosen up the attachment to self and reduce the suffering that follows this attachment. He'll teach about the 8 levels of consciousness, the five skandhas—that which makes up our experience of "self"—as well as the twelve nidanas—also known as dependent origination, and how understanding these two can help free us from painful habits and connect us with wisdom, compassion, and actual happiness.
