Today we visit one of the true Art Treasures of NYC. Located in Upper Manhattan this Museum is devoted to the art and architecture of Medieval Europe. The Met Cloisters is a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art that was constructed out of sections of French medieval monasteries and specializes in European medieval architecture, sculpture and decorative arts, with a focus on the Romanesque and Gothic periods. Prior to our afternoon visit we will experience the culinary delights of Arthur Avenue: The True Little Italy of NYC. We will have time to shop the wonderful bakeries, cheese, cookware and appetizing stores. (Bring a cooler if you like). We will then meet at Mario's for a delicious lunch including salad, pasta, and choice of veal, parmigiana, chicken francese or filet of fish – scampi style (indicate your selection when registering) – all topped off by a desert of mini-pastries and coffee. Wine or soda is included! Yum!! We will then explore the Met Cloisters Museum and walk off those calories! A very unique NYC experience. Please note there is a substantial amount of walking on this trip; wear comfortable walking shoes. Tour led by Melinda Scarso.
